Eternity Lasts Forever

A rather eerie poem and my first actual attempt at poetry since I had to do it in middle school.  I'm posting this one last since your first real work is always special.  Like the last one it was inspired by another author's work, but it mentions no characters or settings.


I am the shadow in the corner
Lurking and watching
I am never really gone
Even when you think I am
I will never truly disappear.

Eternity lasts forever
It will never end
I shall never let you go

I am the spider on the web
I pull all of the strings
I am the puppet master
And you are my puppet
I will make you dance for me
No matter what

Eternity lasts forever
It will never end
I shall never let you go

I am never scared by the light
No matter how brightly it shines
I am made of darkness
And yet I feed on the light
I will never be taken away from you
No matter how brightly you shine
I feel your warmth to my very bones

Eternity lasts forever
It will never end
I shall never let you go

I am feeling myself weaken
You, my light, are escaping my clutches
I am never going to let you leave me
You are the light to my shadow
I will not let you leave me alone
Please, don’t leave me alone
I feel you pulling away
I don’t think I can accept that

I am going to fight for you
You will not be taken away from me
I am not going to live my life without you
Nothing can keep me away from you
I will always come back
You cannot truly escape a shadow
I feel the darkness ebbing again

I am willing to hold you forever
To hold you tight and never let go
I am not going to let my puppet escape
You won’t leave me for her now
I will not let you leave me for her
Do you hear me?

I am glad you’re listening to reason
You are finally beginning to realize the truth
I am the dark to your light
One cannot exist without the other
I will make sure you understand

I am the spider that keeps you safe
Nothing shall ever do you harm
