Endings

This is a very personal piece.  It details events from around this time two years ago.  I've toyed with the idea of writing a book about my first few years in Korea.  If I do that, then this, or something similar, will likely be the prologue.

Daydream Believer

Like the last work this was inspired by another author's work as well as the song that share's this post's title.  If you have anything against M/M relationship you shouldn't read this.  It is safe for anyone to read through, nothing more romantic then you would find in a Disney movie.  It's written in an unusual style for me, rather unreal.

My Sunshine

Like the previous poetry, this was inspired by another author's work, but has no characters or settings from the author mentioned.  It's also based on the song, "You are my Sunshine."  It's a sad little bit about a man that is mourning the loss of his lover.

A rather eerie poem and my first actual attempt at poetry since I had to do it in middle school.  I'm posting this one last since your first real work is always special.  Like the last one it was inspired by another author's work, but it mentions no characters or settings.

My Sincere Honesty

Well, this entry is going to shock Elli and Nicole since they will probably find this piece familiar, but believe it to have been written by a different person.  This was my actual first foray into poetry, from about two years ago.

Flying Free

This was written after I broke up with my college boyfriend of four and a half years, right after I came to teach in South Korea.  It's a poem, which is a little different for me.

The Christmas Birth

I thought it fitting to offer up a Christmas piece on April Fool's Day.
It's another unusual piece.  I wrote this for Nicole back in Christmas 2010.  She wrote me a piece of a novel that she's now self-published.  I hope seeing this piece again does for her what it did for me: it reminds us just how much we've changed our lives for the better in the past two or so years.
Sure, there have been some bad downs during that time.  We both buried people we didn't want to lose, but we also met new, wonderful people that make every day of our lives better than the day before.

The Placement

A rather weird piece I wrote during one of the oddest times of my life.  Writing this helped me overcome some fears and step upon the path that has led me here to South Korea and Min Young.

Maggie Girl

This is for my friend Nicole's little girl, Maggie, who turns one year old today.  So, in honor of that, here's a little something I put together.  It's not much, I'm sorry to say, but I mean what it says:

In Loving Memory

I wrote this to honor my ex's grandparents when they passed on.  Now, after my mother's death, it's even harder to go back and read this.  If you've lost a loved one then I'm sure you can relate.

Harry and the Fairies

This is an odd little piece.  I wrote it about two years ago.  It was inspired by a prompt I saw about fairies.  I don't think it's one of my better pieces, but I do like what I did with the fairies.  Any opinions would be nice.

Upon the Sea of Grass

A little something that's been in my head for years in some form or another.  In honor of Nicole's birthday on Jan. 7th I decided to put fingers to keyboard and finally bring it to life.  Now my brain is running with it.  We'll see if there is more.

What I'm doing

Before I get to real posts I want to explain this blog.

This is more a place for me to post some of my own writings.  Some of it will be stuff I wrote just for fun, others will be from larger things.  Perhaps scenes I'm trying to work on and want some constructive criticism, or maybe just things I feel like sharing while I continue to work.  Quite a bit of it, at least for now, will be poetry I've done.  I'll do my best to post here every two weeks.  Hopefully I can keep that up.

Almost everything I write here will be about my own writing and my own worlds.  Some of it will be inspired by another author or poem, but you could easily replace the characters with anyone you want.  If you want to read my real fanfiction then look me up here: Fanfiction or you can go here: Archive.
